Mickey is the most like me in terms of how he experiences depression, how everything seems to be going right for him but he just can’t find it in himself to be happy about any of it. Icebreaker has such a diverse cast of characters! What character is the most like you and what character was your favorite to write about? When I created the Royals, I wanted them to be an example of what hockey culture could and should be, so readers can expect a group of boys who are supportive and soft with each other while rejecting toxic masculinity, as well as successful women, all the sibling and family dynamics, and of course, some intense hockey play-by-play. How would you describe Icebreaker in five words? Most of my time these days is spent playing D&D (which I highly recommend for anyone trying to explore their gender identity!) and working on my next book! 2. I hold a BS in Liberal Studies (concentration in English Literature) from Medaille College, though I spent more years at Wells College (which is what I based the Hartland campus on). I’m originally from Buffalo, New York, USA, but I’m currently living in Wisconsin. Thank you for having me! I’m Al, a nonbinary writer, gamer, and hockey fan. Thank you so much for joining us at Diversify Your Shelves! Could you tell us and our readers a bit about yourself?
